In a major push to position Chhattisgarh as a leading textile and apparel manufacturing hub in India, the state government today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) at the prestigious CMAI FAB Show 2025 in Mumbai.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, who attended the event at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, showcased Chhattisgarh’s investor-friendly climate and extended a direct invitation to textile entrepreneurs across the country to establish units in the state.
“Take full advantage of Chhattisgarh’s pro-industry ecosystem. We are not just focused on ease of doing business—but the speed of doing business,” the CM declared during his address.
CMAI to Establish Textile & Apparel Facilitation Centre in Raipur
As per the MoU, CMAI will set up a state-of-the-art Textile and Apparel Facilitation Centre in Raipur, which is expected to serve as a catalyst for textile sector growth in the state. The initiative is aimed at attracting large-scale investments and creating thousands of job opportunities, particularly in rural and tribal regions.
The Chief Minister called the agreement a “milestone” in Chhattisgarh’s industrial journey, adding: “This will open new doors for investment and promote our traditional and modern textile capabilities alike.”
NIFT Campus in Nava Raipur: Skill Development at the Core
In a related development, the CM highlighted the state’s approval of a National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) campus in Nava Raipur, with an investment of Rs 271 crore. The institute will serve as a hub for design innovation, fashion education, and skill enhancement, laying the foundation for a sustainable textile ecosystem in the region.
Focus on Traditional Textiles: Kosa Silk to Get Global Push
Chhattisgarh’s indigenous kosa silk from Bastar and Surguja will be given a national and international branding push. With support from CMAI and the upcoming NIFT campus, the state is aiming to integrate traditional handloom crafts with the modern apparel industry, offering opportunities to rural weavers and artisans.
Industrial Growth, Reforms, and Incentives
CM Vishnu Deo Sai noted that since the rollout of the new industrial policy, the state has seen massive investor interest across diverse sectors. Key highlights include:
• Over 350 policy reforms implemented to streamline investments
• Special grants and subsidies for units employing over 1,000 locals
• MSME-friendly initiatives in textile clusters
• Extra incentives for companies setting up in tribal districts like Bastar and Surguja
• Rs 252 crore reimbursed for Rs 100 crore of private investment
“No other state offers this level of support to textile investors,” said the CM.

These developments aim to make the movement of raw materials and finished goods more efficient for textile and garment industries.
Skilled Manpower Backed by Premier Institutions
To address the workforce needs of the growing industry, Chhattisgarh is now offering technology-integrated training at ITIs and has strengthened its talent pool with institutions like IIT, IIM, and IIIT. These institutions are expected to provide a steady stream of skilled professionals for textile manufacturing, fashion design, and business operations.
