Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Wednesday said that tribal freedom fighters and revered leaders have played an unmatched role in shaping the nation and society. Addressing the Virat Veer Mela Mahotsav at Karrejhar village in Gurur block of Balod district, he said tribal communities have consistently shown courage and unity whenever the nation faced adversity.
Joining the memorial gathering on the concluding day of the three-day festival, the Chief Minister paid homage to Amar Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh, calling his sacrifice an enduring inspiration for generations.
At the event, Sai announced Rs 15 lakh for the construction of a pond near the fair venue. He also approved the Tribal Welfare Department’s financial assistance for the festival to be raised from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh.
The Chief Minister further announced the construction of a kitchen shed at the ‘devsthal’ in Rajarav Pathar and inaugurated development works worth Rs 71.93 lakh at the fair premises.
Tribute to Leaders Who Strengthened Tribal Rights
Sai highlighted the contributions of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in strengthening tribal rights and identity at the national level. He remembered Bhagwan Birsa Munda, Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh and Gend Singh, saying their courage and patriotism form an invaluable legacy. He added that the state government has fulfilled the commitments made under Prime Minister Modi’s guarantee.

Former Union Minister Arvind Netam praised the efforts of the Centre and the state in reducing Naxal violence, describing it as essential for development.
Tribal Welfare and Agriculture Minister Ramvichar Netam said the government under Sai’s leadership is working with commitment for the progress of every section of society.
Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap said that the long struggles of tribal ancestors are beginning to yield results, especially in the recognition of their forest rights. He added that Bastar is witnessing peace after decades of Naxal violence, and sectors including education, health and infrastructure are gaining a strong foundation.
Cultural Performances and Book Releases Mark the Celebration
Folk artists from tribal communities performed traditional art forms such as Rela, Mandari and Hulki, adding cultural vibrancy to the closing ceremony.

- Ghotul Pundana by Marai Radheshyam Bastaria
Revenue Minister Tank Ram Verma and Kanker MLA Asharam Netam were also present during the programme.
