However, the issue has escalated beyond social media outrage. Multiple complaints have been filed against Allahbadia, Raina, and social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija.
Legal Action and Political Fallout
The Maharashtra Cyber Cell has now registered a case against India’s Got Latent, filing charges against 30 to 40 individuals linked to the show. Notices are being sent to all involved. Mumbai Police have also visited Allahbadia’s residence as part of their investigation.
Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has summoned Allahbadia, Raina, and others over alleged derogatory remarks, with a hearing scheduled for February 17. Additionally, a Parliamentary panel on information technology is considering whether to summon the YouTuber-podcaster for questioning.
The controversy has spread across state lines, with Assam authorities also filing a case against Allahbadia and others. Guwahati Joint Commissioner of Police Ankur Jain confirmed that they are coordinating with Mumbai Police and will issue summons in due course.
Political Reactions and Industry Impact
The controversy has reached Parliament, with Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi announcing her intention to raise the issue. She criticized Allahbadia’s remarks as “abusive language in the name of comedy.”
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also weighed in, stating that anyone who crosses the limits of decency will face action. Two Mumbai-based lawyers have already filed legal complaints against Allahbadia.
Following the backlash, the India’s Got Latent episode featuring the controversial comments has been removed from YouTube.
