Director Sukumar’s Pushpa 2: The Rule continues its unprecedented box office domination, with early reports indicating that the Allu Arjun-starrer has become the fastest Indian film to surpass the Rs 1,000 crore mark globally. The film, featuring Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil in key roles, achieved this milestone within just six and a half days, fueling speculation about whether it will claim the title of the highest-grossing Indian film of all time.
On its seventh day, Pushpa 2 added Rs 27.71 crore to its domestic collection, bringing its total India nett earnings to Rs 672.71 crore as of 7 PM Wednesday, according to Sacnilk. Despite a more than 50 percent drop in weekday collections compared to its weekend numbers, the movie’s daily earnings still eclipse the lifetime totals of many films.
In the Telugu market, the film recorded an overall occupancy rate of 23.69 percent, with morning shows at 18.10 percent and afternoon shows peaking at 29.27 percent. Similarly, the Hindi market saw a 21.43 percent overall occupancy rate, with morning and afternoon shows achieving 14.42 percent and 28.44 percent, respectively.
On the Path to Becoming India’s Highest-Grossing Film
The question has shifted from “if” to “when” Pushpa 2 will overtake previous box office titans like:
- Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Rs 1,788.06 crore)
- RRR (Rs 1,230 crore)
- KGF: Chapter 2 (Rs 1,215 crore)
- Jawan (Rs 1,160 crore)

Currently, Pushpa 2 ranks fourth in India’s nett collection, surpassing the lifetime domestic totals of Kalki 2898 AD (Rs 646.31 crore) and Jawan (Rs 640.25 crore) earlier this week. To claim the all-time top spot, it must surpass Dangal (Rs 2,070.3 crore globally).
Star Power and Critical Acclaim
The film’s success is buoyed by Allu Arjun’s magnetic performance as Pushpa Raj, a role that has resonated with audiences worldwide. The movie also stars Jagadeesh Prathap Bandari, Jagapathi Babu, Sunil, Anasuya Bharadwaj, and Rao Ramesh in pivotal roles.
Adding to its allure is a powerful soundtrack composed by Devi Sri Prasad, with additional background music by Sam CS and lyrics by Chandrabose. The music has played a significant role in enhancing the film’s mass appeal.
As Pushpa 2 continues its box office juggernaut, all eyes are on whether it will dethrone Dangal to become the highest-grossing Indian film of all time. With its current pace and global acclaim, the film seems poised to rewrite history.
