Kantara Chapter 1 box office collection: Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 continues its phenomenal run at the global box office. Released on October 2, the film has surpassed ₹370 crore in worldwide collections within its first five days, marking one of the biggest openings for a Kannada film.
The movie recorded a net domestic collection of ₹255.75 crore and a gross of ₹307 crore in India. Combined with its overseas earnings of ₹63 crore ($7 million), the prequel to Kantara stands tall with a total worldwide gross of ₹370 crore.
These impressive numbers mean that Kantara Chapter 1 has already overtaken the lifetime collection of Sukumar’s Allu Arjun-starrer Pushpa: The Rise, which grossed ₹350.1 crore worldwide. The film is also on track to surpass the original Kantara, the second-highest-grossing Kannada film ever, which earned ₹407.82 crore globally.
While surpassing that milestone seems likely, it remains to be seen if Rishab Shetty’s magnum opus can challenge the record-breaking earnings of Prashanth Neel’s KGF Chapter 2, which collected ₹1215 crore worldwide.
Rishab Shetty Returns as Berme in Prequel Set in Pre-Colonial Karnataka
Produced by Hombale Films, Kantara Chapter 1 serves as a prequel to the 2022 hit Kantara. The film explores the origins of the Bhuta Kola tradition and is set in pre-colonial Karnataka. Rishab Shetty reprises his role as Berme, a tribal leader fighting for his community’s autonomy.
The film also stars Jayaram, Rukmini Vasanth, and Gulshan Devaiah in pivotal roles. Jayaram plays King Rajashekara, Rukmini portrays Princess Kanakavathi, and Gulshan essays the role of Prince Kulashekara. The narrative culminates with hints of more stories from the mystical world of Kantara.
