The tragic death of Bengaluru-based techie Atul Subhash, originally from Uttar Pradesh, has taken a new turn as his mother-in-law dismissed the harassment allegations leveled against her daughter Nikita and their family. Speaking to India Today TV, she firmly stated, “Atul Subhash has taken out his frustration on us.”
Responding to the accusations, Subhash’s mother-in-law called them “baseless” and vowed to present evidence proving their innocence. She added, “All these allegations are baseless. I will put all the evidence in front of the world…. My daughter can never abet anyone to commit suicide.”
Suicide Note and Accusations
Subhash’s death, discovered in his Bengaluru apartment, left behind a 24-page suicide note and a 1.5-hour-long video. In these, he accused his estranged wife Nikita and her family of harassment, false cases, and severe allegations including dowry demands, unnatural sex, and even murder.

Kumar further elaborated, “I came to know through media that my name was mentioned in the FIR in Atul Subhash’s suicide case. But I was not there (in Bengaluru), and neither did I have any role in this case. We came to know about the case from media only.”
Legal Proceedings and Evidence
The Bengaluru police registered a case against Subhash’s wife and her family under sections 108 and 3(5) of the BNS Act, based on a complaint filed by Atul Subhash’s brother. Section 108 (Abetment to Suicide) is non-bailable. The suicide note detailed Subhash’s prolonged legal battles in Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur and alleged demands for exorbitant maintenance sums during court proceedings.
Kumar stated, “For three years, the case has been ongoing in court, and no one from our side met them.” He reiterated, “No one from our family is guilty. A case is going on in the court, and whatever the court’s judgement is, it will be followed.”
With the case now under judicial scrutiny, both sides await further developments. Sushil Kumar remarked, “Whatever blame Subhash has levelled, Nikita will answer every one of them.”
This case highlights the complexities surrounding marital disputes and mental health, urging a balanced approach to uncover the truth behind such tragic incidents.
