Tamil actor-politician Arulmani dies of cardiac arrest at 65

Tamil actor Arulmani died on Thursday due to heart attack. He was campaigning in various parts of Tamil Nadu for the last 10 days on behalf of the AIADMK ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Besides being a politician, Arulmani was also an actor and has worked in films like Singam, Linga, Azhagi and Thandavakone. Lately, Arulmani had distanced himself from cinema because of his active involvement in politics.

Arulmani was known for being a philanthropist. Besides being an actor and politician, Arulmani also ran the Movement Training School for some time.

After campaigning for 10 days non-stop, he came back to Chennai on Thursday for a short break. He was admitted to the Government Royapettah Hospital as soon as he returned home in Chennai on April 11.

After Arulmani complained of sudden health discomfort, his family rushed him to hospital. According to the film fraternity and insiders in Kollywood, the doctor who examined him at the hospital declared him dead upon arrival. Doctors have confirmed that he has died of heart attack.

On March 26, comedian Seshu died at the age of 60 due to ill health. At the age of 48, Daniel Balaji died of a heart attack on March 29. On April 2, Vishweshwara Rao died due to cancer at 64. Arulmani is the fourth Tamil actor to die in close succession.
