Actor Katrina Kaif is reportedly preparing for her next major acting project after becoming a mother. According to recent media reports, the actor has been included in the final cast of Chandni Bar 2, a sequel to the acclaimed 2001 film Chandni Bar.
The upcoming project is said to be backed by filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar and directed by Ajay Bahl.
Reports suggest that actor Tabu will play a leading role in the sequel alongside Katrina Kaif. Sources quoted by entertainment portal Filmfare stated that the film is expected to retain thematic elements from the original movie while presenting a new narrative.
No official announcement regarding the casting has been made by the makers so far.
Released in 2001, Chandni Bar was directed by Madhur Bhandarkar and featured Tabu and Atul Kulkarni in the lead roles. The film also starred Ananya Khare, Rajpal Yadav, Minakshi Sahani and Vishal Thakkar in supporting roles.
The critically acclaimed drama explored the realities of Mumbai’s underworld, dance bars, prostitution and organised crime. Following its release on September 28, 2001, the film received widespread recognition and performed successfully at the box office.
