“Your appointment is like that of a ‘God on Earth’. The poor, weak, and helpless people of this state have great expectations from you. I firmly believe that with your spirit of service, you will strengthen and improve the healthcare system here,” said Chief Minister Hemant Soren while addressing the appointment letter distribution ceremony organised by the Department of Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare at Jharkhand Mantralaya.
On this occasion, he handed over appointment letters to 160 assistant professors, dentists, and medical officers. The Chief Minister described the recruitment of these medical officers as a major step towards strengthening the state’s healthcare infrastructure.
Addressing the newly appointed doctors, Soren said that choosing the health sector as a career brings many future opportunities, but it is also a field where service carries immense importance. He urged them to remain sensitive to the needs of the poor and helpless, adding that these sensitivities must also be visible on the ground so that people directly benefit from them.
Much Can Be Done Even With Limited Resources
The Chief Minister acknowledged the state’s limited resources but stressed that passion and dedication can help achieve much within these constraints. “Patients need not only treatment but also your empathy and service. Your conduct and behaviour can provide them with a much better atmosphere,” he said.
Soren highlighted that the healthcare sector faces new challenges every day, requiring continuous research and innovations. He said doctors play a crucial role in this process, and the government has created a system where their cooperation is vital to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and ensuring people have access to resources and facilities for quality treatment.
Problems Are Man-Made, So Must Be the Solutions
Referring to rising health issues, the Chief Minister said that many of today’s diseases are caused by human activities. Therefore, collective efforts are needed to find solutions. He recalled the Covid-19 crisis, noting that despite the absence of a cure or medicine, the Jharkhand government successfully tackled the challenge through effective management.
