The NCC Directorate Bihar and Jharkhand has announced the undertaking of the Veer Birsa Munda Cyclothon under the aegis of NCC Group Headquarters, Ranchi, with the theme “Shaurya Ke Kadam Kranti Ki Ore.” The initiative celebrates the legacy of tribal icon Veer Birsa Munda while promoting national unity, cultural pride and collective participation.
Described as a landmark initiative, the cyclothon sets the stage for a larger national journey that seeks to inspire unity and honour the indomitable spirit of Dharti Aaba Veer Birsa Munda.
The first phase of the cyclothon will be conducted from December 18 to December 20, 2025, traversing three different axes through Jharkhand. The route will pass through key locations closely associated with the life and legacy of Veer Birsa Munda, symbolically retracing the sacred soil that shaped his resistance and leadership.
This leg will see the participation of NCC officers, permanent staff and NCC cadets, including girl cadets, reflecting unity, discipline and inclusiveness. The first phase will culminate in a grand reception at Morabadi Ground, Ranchi.
Second Leg to New Delhi Covers 1,300 Kilometres
The second and more challenging phase of the cyclothon will begin on December 28, 2025, from the Birsa Munda Jail Complex, Ranchi, and conclude in New Delhi on January 28, 2026. Covering nearly 1,300 kilometres over a span of 20 days, the journey will pass through Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi.
This leg will be undertaken by a dedicated team comprising two officers, two permanent staff and 16 NCC cadets, including girl cadets, who will serve as young ambassadors of Jharkhand carrying forward Veer Birsa Munda’s indomitable spirit.
The cyclothon will culminate with a grand homecoming at the Prime Minister’s Rally in New Delhi on January 28, 2026, marking a befitting tribute to Veer Birsa Munda at the highest national platform.
The organisers said the journey aims to carry the message of unity, courage and cultural pride across the country while showcasing the confident and resilient identity of a new Jharkhand.
More Than a Ride, a National Movement
The Veer Birsa Munda Cyclothon is envisioned as more than a bicycle journey. It is a movement that promotes physical endurance, national integration and cultural consciousness, powered by the energy and discipline of NCC cadets.
As the cyclists ride across towns and states, each pedal stroke is intended to convey a message of strength, sacrifice and service, linking India’s glorious past with its aspirational future.
