Chief Minister Hemant Soren, in a push to accelerate urban development works, has directed the modernisation, renovation and comprehensive redevelopment of all major bus terminals in Ranchi. Following his instructions, the capital’s three key bus terminals — ITI Bus Stand, Government Bus Depot and Birsa Munda Bus Terminal, Khadgarha — will now be upgraded in line with national standards.
On the directions of Urban Development and Housing Minister Sudivya Kumar, tenders have already been floated for initiating the work. The minister has instructed Principal Secretary Sunil Kumar to ensure swift execution of the tender process through JUDCO so that construction work begins without delay.
Earlier, on the Chief Minister’s directions, Minister Sudivya Kumar had already approved a total outlay of ₹48.72 crore, including ₹24.77 crore for ITI Bus Stand, ₹20.19 crore for the Government Bus Depot, and ₹3.76 crore for Birsa Munda Bus Terminal. Principal Secretary Sunil Kumar has directed JUDCO to complete tendering at the earliest so that, upon completion, Ranchi’s bus terminals emerge as model terminals not only at the state level but also at the national level, offering passengers enhanced security, cleanliness and modern facilities.
