Director Buchi Babu Sana has issued a public apology and confirmed that changes will be made to certain scenes in his latest film Peddi after criticism emerged regarding objectification of Jhanvi Kapoor.
In a post on X, the user described the depiction as “disgusting” and questioned the inclusion of close-up shots of naval and chest, calling “it is absurd”.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, Sana said the feedback received from audiences had been taken seriously. He stated that cinema should entertain, inspire and connect with viewers while ensuring that no section of the audience feels uncomfortable or disrespected and the production team will be reviewing the scenes.

The director also spoke about the changing expectations of audiences and the responsibility of filmmakers to remain aware of evolving social perspectives.
According to Sana, cinema continues to grow through its relationship with audiences, making it important for storytellers to remain sensitive to contemporary concerns and cultural discussions.
Reiterating his position on the issue, Sana said every woman deserves to be represented with dignity and respect on screen.

Peddi Faces Social Media Criticism After Release
Peddi, which stars Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor, was released on June 4 and subsequently drew criticism from a section of viewers on social media.
Some users alleged that the film objectified Janhvi Kapoor’s character through certain visual presentations, while others criticised scenes they claimed portrayed inappropriate behaviour as romantic interactions.
