Chhattisgarh has made significant strides in governance, economy, and social development, as reflected in the CAREEdge State Ranking 2025. The state has improved its position by three spots, climbing from 14th place in 2023 to 11th among India’s 17 large states. Its overall score has risen by 6.1 points, jumping from 34.8 to 40.9, marking a comprehensive improvement across multiple sectors.
One of the most notable improvements was in the economic performance index, where Chhattisgarh saw a jump of 9.9 points, moving from 12th position in 2023 to 7th in 2025. The rise is attributed to the state’s industry-friendly policies, improved revenue efficiency, and transparent budget management. Enhanced GST collections and disciplined fiscal practices have strengthened the state’s financial health.
Governance Reforms Yield Results
Chhattisgarh recorded a remarkable 14.2-point improvement in governance, thanks to reforms in public service delivery, law and order, and digital governance. These measures have increased administrative transparency and citizen engagement, positioning the state as a growing model of decentralized and accountable governance.
Social Sector Sees Major Progress
The CAREEdge report also highlights a 17.8-point gain in the social sector, indicating measurable improvements in literacy, education access, healthcare services, and income equality. The state’s focus on inclusive development and targeted welfare programs has delivered positive results in rural and underserved areas.
