A video showing a couple engaging in an apparent inappropriate conduct at a Metro station in Bengaluru has gone viral on social media, drawing widespread reactions. The incident reportedly took place at the Madavara Metro station, where the couple was seen behaving intimately on the platform in full public view, even as other commuters, including elderly passengers, stood nearby.
The clip was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by a user operating under the handle “Karnataka Portfolio.” The accompanying caption questioned the state of public decency in the city, comparing the situation to controversial instances of public behaviour seen in other metro systems across the country.
User’s reaction on this act in Bengaluru Metro
“It is extremely disappointing and concerning to witness the kind of behavior that some individuals are now displaying in public spaces,” the post read. “A recent incident at the Namma Metro station near Madavara has left many shocked and uncomfortable.”
The user expressed concern over how public spaces are being misused for personal displays of affection, stating, “Such actions, especially in a public place like a metro station, are completely unacceptable. Public spaces are meant for everyone – children, women, families, the elderly – and should not be treated as private zones.”
While the post condemned the couple’s actions, it also sparked a wider conversation online about public conduct, privacy, and the ethics of filming and sharing such videos. Several users called for stricter enforcement of public decency laws, with comments like, “Is this the kind of example we are setting for the next generation?” and “Stricter laws against indecent behaviour in public places should be imposed.”

Netizens criticize the user for filming the Viral video
On the other hand, some users criticized the act of filming and uploading the video itself, arguing that it amounted to moral policing and an invasion of privacy. “Two wrongs don’t make a right. Filming someone without consent and publicly shaming them is not ethical,” one commenter said, adding that such matters should be handled by authorities rather than the public.
As of now, there has been no official response from the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) regarding the viral clip. IndiaToday.in has not independently verified the authenticity of the video.
This isn’t the first time such an incident has triggered online debate. Last year, a video showing a couple kissing on the platform of Kolkata’s Kalighat Metro Station similarly divided opinion on social media, with some defending public displays of affection and others arguing they should be kept private.
