The accused have been identified as Manoj Kumar (32), a Kalaripayattu martial arts trainer from Kerala, and his wife Aarati Sharma (30) from Jammu & Kashmir.
According to the police, the sequence of events began around 9 pm on October 25, when Darshan’s scooter lightly hit the rear-view mirror of the couple’s car.
Though Darshan immediately apologised and rode off to complete his delivery, Manoj Kumar lost his temper. In a fit of rage, he made a U-turn, chased the scooter, and rammed it from behind, causing Darshan to fall to the ground with severe injuries.
Locals rushed to the scene and took him to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. Initially, Darshan’s sister filed a hit-and-run complaint, unaware of the deliberate nature of the act.
CCTV Footage Exposes the Truth
The case took a dramatic turn when CCTV footage from nearby buildings revealed the couple’s car chasing and hitting Darshan’s scooter.
Investigators then handed over the case to the Puttenahalli police, who reclassified it as murder based on the evidence.

In a disturbing twist, police discovered that Manoj and Aarati returned to the accident site around 9.40 pm, this time wearing masks, to collect broken parts of their car left behind in the collision.
The same CCTV cameras captured their movements, helping police identify and later arrest both suspects.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Lokesh Jagalasar confirmed that both had confessed to the crime, according to a report by The Times of India (TOI).
Police said Manoj, a trained Kalaripayattu instructor, and Aarati had been living in Bengaluru for several years.

The case has triggered outrage across Bengaluru, with many calling for stricter penalties for road rage and reckless driving incidents. The deliberate nature of the act — especially over such a minor issue — has stunned residents and renewed conversations around urban aggression and traffic discipline.
Authorities have promised a fast-tracked investigation, ensuring justice for the victim and his family.
