In a grim revelation that has stunned Bengaluru, investigators have uncovered a chilling message sent by surgeon Dr. Mahendra Reddy to his lover moments after allegedly murdering his wife, Kruthika Reddy.
The 32-year-old general surgeon reportedly texted her via a digital payment app, writing, “I killed my wife for you.” The message, discovered during forensic analysis of his phone, became a key breakthrough for investigators probing the mysterious death that took place six months ago.
According to an NDTV report citing police officers, the disturbing message was sent shortly after the crime. It confirmed what investigators had long suspected — that Mahendra’s motive was driven by an extramarital relationship.
“He confessed to the act in a message to his partner. This digital evidence played a crucial role in establishing motive and intent,” said an officer familiar with the probe.
The woman who received the message has been questioned by police. Her identity remains undisclosed, but officers confirmed that her statement has been recorded as part of the ongoing investigation.
Surgeon Used Medical Expertise to Execute the Murder
Police said Mahendra planned the murder with precision, using his medical knowledge to administer a fatal dose of anaesthetic drugs. He allegedly exploited his wife’s existing health vulnerabilities to disguise the killing as a natural death.
“The evidence shows deliberate and precise use of anaesthetic drugs,” said Whitefield DCP M. Parashuram.
Kruthika, who was staying at her father’s house in Marathahalli, fell unconscious on April 23, 2025, after Mahendra reportedly injected her with anaesthetic agents. She was taken to a private hospital and declared “brought dead.”
The couple had married on May 26, 2024, but their relationship deteriorated rapidly. Police said Mahendra grew resentful after discovering Kruthika’s undisclosed medical conditions.
Investigators believe he carefully planned the murder while maintaining the appearance of a concerned husband. His eventual arrest came six months later, following forensic confirmation of respiratory failure due to anaesthetic overdose.
Family’s Persistence Led to Breakthrough
Initially, Kruthika’s family believed she had died of natural causes. However, her sister, Dr. Nikitha Reddy, insisted on an inquiry, prompting police to file an Unnatural Death Report (UDR). Her persistence, combined with forensic evidence, ultimately led to Mahendra’s arrest.
He now faces charges of murder and criminal conspiracy under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
