In a real-life scene reminiscent of the popular web series Panchayat, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA Bhai Virendra was caught in a fiery verbal exchange with a village secretary in his Maner constituency. The MLA, agitated over the delay in issuing a death certificate, threatened the government employee during a phone call — a recording of which is now viral on social media.
“Joote Maarenge” Remark Sparks Outrage
The controversy began when Bhai Virendra contacted the village secretary to enquire about the status of a death certificate for Avinash Kumar, the late husband of a woman named Rinki Devi. What followed was an argument that quickly escalated when the secretary failed to recognise the MLA.

“You don’t know Bhai Virendra of Maner? The entire country knows me,” the RJD leader exclaimed when asked to identify himself. He then mocked the official, saying, “Are you from England?”
Matters intensified as the secretary maintained his composure and requested the MLA to speak clearly. Enraged, Bhai Virendra lashed out, saying, “Joote se maarenge tumko (I will hit you with my shoes). Record this and do what you want.”
He continued berating the official: “Don’t work poorly. You are an employee, work like an employee.”
Secretary Pushes Back, Refuses to be Intimidated
In a rare show of defiance, the village secretary responded firmly, saying he is “not afraid” of the MLA. “If you talk to me nicely, I will talk to you nicely. Do whatever you want, I am not afraid of you,” he said.
When Bhai Virendra questioned the secretary’s knowledge of local leadership and threatened further consequences, the official calmly responded, “Get me transferred. Talk to me about work. Your request has been processed. You will know when it is done,” before ending the call.
The audio of the entire conversation has ignited public debate, drawing sharp reactions on social media, with many comparing it to the power dynamics portrayed in rural governance in Panchayat.
