Union Minister Chirag Paswan on Saturday launched a scathing criticism of the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government, stating he feels “saddened” to support a regime where crimes like murder, robbery, kidnapping, and rape continue unchecked across the state.
His criticism came after reports of the gangrape of a woman, who fainted during a homeguard exam, came to light in Bihar’s Gaya district.
“The administration is completely submissive before the criminals,” Paswan said, adding that criminal incidents are occurring across Bihar and the government has failed to bring the situation under control.
He expressed concern for the safety of Bihar’s citizens, stating, “The people of Bihar no longer feel safe and are questioning why criminal activities are not decreasing.” He urged the state administration to acknowledge the suffering of families affected by crime, saying, “The pain of the victims’ families must be acknowledged.”

Paswan also alleged that the government was either trying to cover up the law and order situation or was incapable of handling it, and warned, “There is a need for the government to wake up in time.”
‘Bihar First, Bihari First’: Paswan Signals Shift to State Politics Ahead of Elections
With the Bihar elections approaching, Paswan reiterated his commitment to the state, revealing his intention to return to state politics. “My vision is ‘Bihar first, Bihari first’,” he said.
Paswan, who is currently serving his third term as a Member of Parliament, noted that remaining in Delhi would not help him realise his goal of bringing Bihar on par with developed states. “I have already conveyed my wish to return to Bihar soon to my party,” he added, while clarifying that a final decision would depend on whether his participation would strengthen the party in the upcoming state polls.
He also pointed out that his party had achieved a 100% strike rate in the recent Lok Sabha elections, and expressed the desire to replicate that success in the Bihar assembly elections.
