Bihar Election Results 2025 Counting Day Updates Nitish Kumar’s JDU has made significant gains in the Bihar Assembly Election 2025, winning around 85 seats while the NDA bagged 200 plus seats in the Bihar Assembly Election 2025. Its ally, the BJP, also performing strongly with 89 seats .
The Opposition, meanwhile, drew a poor show. The RJD merely got 25 seats, while Congress won six.
Prashant Kishor’s much-discussed Jan Suraaj Party — expected by some to be the election’s wild card — is yet to open his account so far.
The JDU’s strong performance highlights its continued relevance in Bihar politics and demonstrates that Nitish Kumar’s governance record still resonates with voters, even after two decades in power.

A Potential Repeat of 2005 and 2010
If the JDU maintains its lead and manages to finish as the single largest party, it will echo the outcomes of the 2005 and 2010 elections, when it dominated the NDA alliance in the state.
This surge also comes at a time when the JDU was widely viewed as the weaker partner within the coalition. Early trends indicate that such assumptions may have been misplaced.
Counting trends suggest the Mahagathbandhan’s attempts to raise concerns about Nitish Kumar’s health and present Tejashwi Yadav as a younger, more energetic alternative did not convince voters.
If Nitish Kumar takes oath again, it will mark the 10th time he has been sworn in as Chief Minister.
Despite rival claims that his political flip-flops have weakened his appeal, the JDU’s lead indicates that his long governance record remains a stabilising force among voters.
LJP (Ram Vilas) Posts Major Gains Within NDA
Another standout performer in the NDA is Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas).
Out of the 28 seats the party contested, it is leading in 18 and has won one seat — a remarkable show for Paswan, following his party’s 5/5 sweep in last year’s Lok Sabha election.
If the numbers hold, this will be another major victory for Paswan within the NDA fold.
