Jharkhand Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari has directed the School Education Secretary to begin the process of establishing an additional Sainik School in the state. The decision follows a recommendation highlighting the need for another Sainik School in Jharkhand, especially as some other states already have two. Notably, Sainik School Tilaiya currently has the highest student strength—875 cadets—among all Sainik Schools in the country.
During a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Tiwari on Friday to address various proposals and issues related to Sainik School Tilaiya, several key initiatives were approved.
A new water supply scheme costing ₹9.49 crore will be implemented, with technical approval already secured from the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department. The construction of a sewage treatment plant has also been proposed.
The Building Construction Department has been instructed to ensure the proper maintenance of staff quarters on the campus. Additionally, Sainik School Tilaiya submitted a proposal for the state government to bear the expenses related to pensions, family pensions, NPS, and other benefits for school employees, estimated at around ₹7 crore.

Annual Health Check-Ups to be Conducted Locally in Koderma
In a significant move to ease logistical challenges, the Chief Secretary has ordered that the annual health check-ups of students studying at Sainik School Tilaiya will now be conducted in Koderma itself, instead of Hazaribagh. This decision aims to reduce the inconvenience faced by students in traveling long distances for medical assessments.
The meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Tiwari was attended by Principal Secretary of Drinking Water and Sanitation Department Shri Mastram Meena, School Education Secretary Shri Umashankar Singh, and other officials from relevant departments along with representatives of Sainik School Tilaiya.
