In a major push to strengthen the state’s healthcare infrastructure, Additional Chief Secretary of the Department of Health, Medical Education, and Family Welfare, Mr. Ajay Kumar Singh, held a video conference with all Civil Surgeons and hospital superintendents to review the functioning of district hospitals and other healthcare facilities.
No shortage of medical personnel in government hospitals
During the meeting, Mr. Singh emphasized that there will soon be no shortage of medical personnel in government hospitals across the state. He instructed officials to act in accordance with the department’s Resolution No. 58(21), dated April 11, 2025, which outlines the “Hospital Management Guidelines.”
He directed all Civil Surgeons to immediately fill existing vacancies and ensure availability of all essential equipment and medical machines at district and primary health centers. Singh assured that if additional funds are required, they may be requested from the department.

Meeting also reviewed implementation of health schemes in Jharkhand
The review meeting also covered innovations undertaken in the last six months, implementation of Ayushman Bharat and the Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana, claims filed under these schemes, upcoming processes over the next three months, and the creation of panels for specialist and super-specialist doctors. All districts were directed to complete the formation of these panels by the end of this month.

Upgradation of Operation theater across all district hospitals in Jharkhand
The department also reviewed the current status of machine installations under the State Plan and the operations being carried out using these machines. Additionally, instructions were issued to upgrade all operation theatres in district hospitals to modern modular OTs.
Direction to all healthcare centers on maintenance work
The meeting reviewed maintenance and operational works being conducted under the Chief Minister Maintenance and Operations Scheme. All healthcare centers and sub-centers have been directed to complete repair and painting works, and submit photographic evidence of completed tasks to the department.
Assessment of Ambulance service
Under the department’s mentoring scheme, Mr. Singh also instructed district hospitals to collaborate with senior residents from affiliated medical colleges to initiate various clinical procedures.
