Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren is enduring one of the most difficult periods of his life — the unbearable pain of losing his father, “Baba,” and the weight of continuing his responsibilities toward the state. Today marks the fifth day since the passing of his father, former Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha MP, Dishom Guru Shibu Soren.
Despite his grief, Soren remains committed to both his role as a son and his constitutional duties as CM. From his ancestral home in Nemra, Ramgarh district, he is participating in traditional post-death rituals for his father while also ensuring that the state’s governance and development momentum remain unaffected.

Committed to State Interests Despite Personal Grief
Even in this hour of mourning, the Chief Minister is deeply sensitive to matters of public interest. Suppressing his personal pain, he continues to oversee government operations, clearing essential files and maintaining regular communication with senior officials.

He has directed them to remain prompt and consistent in their work, ensuring that public grievances are addressed without delay. Soren has also asked to be kept updated at all times and to be consulted whenever necessary for directives. “There should be no negligence in any work,” he instructed.
Public Support Gave Strength to Fulfil Duties
Soren expressed that it was the unwavering support of Jharkhand’s people during this difficult time that gave him the strength to continue serving the state despite his personal loss.

Fulfilling Promises Made to ‘Baba’
Recalling his father’s words, Soren said, “Baba always used to say — in public life, always stand for the common people. He was a symbol of struggle, who never learned to bow down. He always fought for this state, never prioritised personal interests, and worked tirelessly from Parliament to the streets for Jharkhand. Today, if there is a Jharkhand, it is because of Dishom Guru.”

Though his father’s protective presence is gone, Soren said he will always remain a guide and inspiration. “He made me promise several things for this state. I am making every possible effort to fulfill those commitments,” the Chief Minister added.
