Shibu Soren Last Rites | Rahul Gandhi, the leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha, attended the last rites of former Jharkhand chief minister Shibu Soren at the latter’s native Nemra village in Ramgarh district on Tuesday evening.
Gandhi visited Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi on Monday to offer his tribute to Shibu, 81, who died of a prolonged illness around 8 am.
The Congress party, which is an ally of Shibu’s Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) in the INDIA bloc, had earlier said, “Gandhi will arrive at Ranchi’s Birsa Munda airport and fly out to Nemra in a helicopter. Gandhi met Shibu’s son Hemant, the incumbent Jharkhand CM, at the hospital on Monday.

Farewell to Shibu Soren
Shibu’s mortal remains were kept at his government bungalow in Morabadi overnight after being brought in a chartered aircraft on Monday evening. Thousands of people lined up the streets through which his coffin travelled from the airport to his home.

Other INDIA bloc leaders, including Bihar MP Rajesh Ranjan and AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh paid their tributes to Shibu on Tuesday morning.
Opposition leaders from across Jharkhand, including former CMs Raghubar Das and Babulal Marandi also paid their tributes to Shibu. On Tuesday morning, a teary eyed Champai Soren, who considered Shibu his Guru, paid his tributes.
The three-time former CM’s coffin was taken to the Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha in a hearse before the convoy left for his native village in the afternoon.
