In a major boost to housing development and welfare in rural Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Tuesday inaugurated 226 newly constructed homes under the Atal Awas Yojana in Murmunda village, handing over the keys to beneficiaries and fulfilling long-standing dreams of homeownership.
The inauguration, held as part of the Su-Shasan Tihar (Good Governance Festival), marked a pivotal moment for the residents of Murmunda and surrounding areas. CM Sai led a ceremonial housewarming (griha pravesh) for beneficiary Tushar Sahu, owner of House No. 226, symbolizing not just a house allotment but the handing over of a “dream home.”
Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister emphasized that the government is committed to providing dignified and safe housing to every citizen. “Today, we are not just giving you a structure of bricks and mortar, but the fulfillment of a dream—a safe and beautiful home you can call your own,” Sai remarked.
He extended heartfelt congratulations to all beneficiaries and reiterated that housing initiatives like Atal Awas Yojana go beyond basic shelter—they play a vital role in social and economic empowerment. The event was also graced by Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Vijay Sharma.
A Home Decades in the Making
Tushar Sahu, emotionally overwhelmed after receiving keys to his 2BHK home, expressed gratitude toward the Chief Minister and the administration. “Living in a clean, peaceful environment was always my dream. Today, that dream stands fulfilled with the Chief Minister himself handing me the keys,” Sahu said. He added that the house is not only well-equipped but also cost-effective compared to market prices. CM Sai visited Sahu’s home and praised the quality of construction.

Several other beneficiaries also received house keys directly from the Chief Minister. Among them was Arun Sahu, a Bhilai Steel Plant employee, who said the timing couldn’t be more perfect as he nears retirement. “Moving into my dream home before retiring is one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life,” he stated.
Beneficiaries Rupnarayan Dewangan and Chandrashekhar Rathore were also handed keys to their new homes in the same ceremony.
A New Chapter in Rural Housing
The Atal Awas Yojana, executed by the Chhattisgarh Housing Board, has made significant strides in Murmunda. Built over 10 acres of land with an investment of ₹24.57 crore, the project includes 226 independent housing units and 12 commercial shops.
The homes fall under various categories including 55 EWS (Economically Weaker Section), 69 LIG-A, 86 Type-B, and 16 MIG units. All 226 homes have been sold, and seven registrations have already been completed, reflecting strong demand and timely delivery.
This project is part of a broader mission by the Chhattisgarh government to enhance livability, affordability, and quality of life in the state’s rural and semi-urban belts.
Government’s Vision for Inclusive Development
CM Sai concluded by reaffirming his government’s commitment to ensuring that no citizen is left behind when it comes to basic rights like housing, sanitation, and dignity. He said that initiatives like Atal Awas are a cornerstone of good governance and will continue to expand across the state.
