Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Wednesday attended the oath-taking and felicitation ceremony of Sanjay Srivastava, the newly appointed Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Civil Supplies Corporation Limited. The event took place at BTI Ground in Shankar Nagar, Raipur, where political leaders, ministers, and dignitaries from across the state gathered to mark the occasion.
Extending his congratulations, CM Sai expressed confidence in Srivastava’s leadership and administrative experience, stating that his appointment would further strengthen the supply chain of essential commodities across the state. Sai praised Srivastava for his dedicated service and prior roles, including his tenure as Chairman of Raipur Development Authority and as Speaker of the Raipur Municipal Corporation.
Chhattisgarh’s PDS — A Model for India
In his address, CM Sai invoked the legacy of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, recalling how Vajpayee’s vision and leadership had led to the creation of Chhattisgarh as a separate state. He also highlighted the transformative role of former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh, crediting him for building what is now regarded as India’s finest Public Distribution System (PDS).
“Dr. Raman Singh’s leadership shaped Chhattisgarh’s PDS into the best system in the country. This isn’t just an administrative achievement but a lifeline for millions,” Sai remarked.

The Chief Minister emphasized the critical role of the Civil Supplies Corporation, describing it as a bridge of trust between the government and the people. He added that ensuring timely and transparent food supply to 75% of the state’s population is not merely a logistical duty but a moral responsibility.

Echoing this sentiment, Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh also underlined the importance of the corporation, calling it the backbone of public service in Chhattisgarh. “This Corporation is not just another agency; it is a trust bridge that connects the government directly with the people. From monitoring every ration shop and warehouse to ensuring timely supply of food grains — this is a responsibility that directly touches the lives of three-quarters of our population.”
Newly appointed Chairman Sanjay Srivastava addressed the gathering, promising transparency, efficiency, and unwavering commitment to serving the people of Chhattisgarh. He expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and vowed to strengthen the state’s food distribution systems.

The grand ceremony saw the attendance of almost the entire political leadership of Chhattisgarh, highlighting the significance of the position and the respect Srivastava commands across party lines.
Prominent attendees included Deputy Chief Ministers Arun Sao and Vijay Sharma, Food Minister Dayaldas Baghel, Agriculture Minister Ramvichar Netam, Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap, Labour and Industry Minister Lakhanlal Dewangan, Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, and Women and Child Development Minister Lakshmi Rajwade.
