In a surprising revelation, officials from Tihar Jail have reportedly claimed that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had stopped taking insulin injections months before his arrest.

The information comes from a report submitted to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi V K Saxena, raising questions about Kejriwal’s health condition and medical decisions leading up to his arrest. He was arrested on March 21 by the Enforcement Directorate for having connection with a money-laundering case and he has been lodged in Tihar jail since April 1.

According to the Tihar officials, Kejriwal, who has been managing his diabetes with insulin injections, had ceased the treatment several months before his arrest.

Meanwhile, AAP leader Atishi said, “At the behest of the BJP, a conspiracy is underway to kill Kejriwal in jail. The chief minister has been taking insulin for 12 years, what is the problem for the Tihar administration to give insulin to him?” The Delhi Minister also claimed that Kejriwal used to take 50 units of insulin daily before he was sent to jail.

Meanwhile, according to jail officials, at the time of his check-ups in Tihar, he told doctors that he had been taking insulin “since the few years and stopped taking it a few months back”, the report said.

The medical records of RML Hospital claim that Arvind Kejriwal was “neither advised any insulin nor any requirement of any insulin was indicated” the Tihar report said, and his health was reviewed by a medicine specialist on April 10 and April 15, the officials said.

The diet plan made for the AAP chief, by the AIIMS, has strictly prohibited high-sugar food such as ladoos, mangoes, pickles, fried food, namkeens and other high-cholesterol food. He is only allowed to consume 20 ml of oil per day in his food.

As the controversy unfolds, the focus remains on ensuring the health and safety of Arvind Kejriwal, with many hoping for transparency and clarity regarding his medical condition and treatment decisions.
