Following the admission in a court by the British pharmaceutical firm AstraZeneca that their vaccination can have uncommon side effects, the parents of a woman who allegedly died after taking Covishield are considering suing the Serum Institute of India (SII).

Karunya, the daughter of Venugopalan Govindan, passed away in July 2021 following her Covishield vaccination. Nonetheless, the government-appointed national committee found insufficient evidence to conclude that the vaccine was the cause of her death.
A few parents have already filed a lawsuit alleging that their children’s deaths were caused by the vaccination. The government and the authorities who approved the vaccine were the targets of the petition. In those cases, the Serum Institute was not a party.
