A group of students from a government school in Tamil Nadu has won hearts across the internet with their charming rendition of a viral Thai song that closely resembles Tamil in sound. Their delightful performance, captured on video, has amassed over 100 million views online.
The video was shared by a teacher from Melur Panchayat Union Kindergarten and Middle School in Therkamoor. It shows the students singing and dancing to the catchy Thai track Anan Ta Pad Chaye.
What did the viral video clip contain
In the endearing clip, a group of girls and one boy energetically perform to the song, which—due to its phonetically similar Thai lyrics—sounds like they’re singing in Tamil. Listeners said that the lyrics of the song spoke by the children sounded similar to the the Tamil phrase “Annana Pathiya Aapata Kethiya” (meaning Did you see my brother? Did you ask dad?), which only added to their fun and fascination.
Dressed neatly in school uniforms, the children sang with confidence and innocent enthusiasm, making the video even more heartwarming.

But what truly stole the show was their infectious joy—especially little Shivadarshini, who has unintentionally become the star of this viral moment. In another clip, now also trending, students were asked to say affirmations. Shivadarshini’s sweet line—“Shivadarshini believes in herself”—captured the internet’s affection instantly.

Though Anan Ta Pad Chaye is trending in India for its Tamil-like sounds, the original song is believed to be by Thai comedian-singer Noi Chernyim. The lyrics, actually part of a traditional Thai chant, gained popularity in 2019 when Indonesian performer Niken Salindry featured them in her shows.
