In a significant political development in Bihar, opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav has leveled serious allegations against Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, claiming the BJP figure possesses two distinct voter identification numbers. The revelation, made during a media interaction on August 10, 2025, has sparked debates over electoral integrity and potential violations in the state’s voter registration process.
Dual Registration Sparks Questions on Electoral Process
Tejashwi Yadav, representing the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and serving as the Leader of the Opposition, showcased evidence from the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) official portal. He pointed out that Sinha appears as a registered voter in both the Bankipur segment of Patna and the Lakhisarai assembly area, with discrepancies in the recorded ages for each entry.

Yadav criticized the authenticity of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, questioning how such duplications could occur in the preliminary voter lists. He suggested that booth-level officials would have needed to verify Sinha’s details at two locations, implying possible oversights or manipulations in the system.
Calls for Accountability and Resignation
The RJD chief urged the ECI, along with local authorities in Patna and Lakhisarai districts, to investigate and impose penalties on Sinha, contrasting this with the rapid issuance of a notice to himself by the commission in a prior matter. He warned against the ECI being manipulated to favor the ruling BJP.
“If Mr. Sinha is found guilty, he should resign and if ECI is guilty the ECI commissioner should apologies,” Mr. Yadav said, emphasizing the need for impartiality in handling such issues.
