Mumbai – Ashwin Kumar’s Mahavatar Narasimha has stormed into the record books, becoming the 8th highest-grossing Hindi film of 2025. The animated mythological epic has earned a staggering Rs 107.65 crore in just 16 days, surpassing the lifetime collections of Sunny Deol’s Jaat (Rs 88.26 crore) and Akshay Kumar’s Kesari 2 (Rs 92.73 crore).
Animated Mythological Epic Crosses Rs 107 Crore in Just 16 Days
What makes the feat even more remarkable is the film’s genre. Indian-made animated films have historically struggled at the domestic box office, unlike Hollywood titles such as The Jungle Book and Inside Out. But Mahavatar Narasimha has proven that when storytelling connects with audiences, the format becomes secondary.
From Modest Opening to Box Office Phenomenon
The film’s journey began with a modest Rs 1.35 crore on Day 1, but positive word-of-mouth triggered an exponential rise. Day 2 collections jumped to Rs 3.25 crore, and Day 3 surged further to Rs 6.8 crore, helping the film close its first week with Rs 32.45 crore in Hindi and Rs 44.75 crore across all languages.
The second weekend proved to be a turning point. Day 8 brought in Rs 5.5 crore in Hindi, Day 9 doubled to Rs 11.5 crore, and Day 10 soared to Rs 17.5 crore. By the end of the second week, the Hindi version had collected Rs 87.4 crore.
Despite a sharp drop to Rs 5.25 crore on its third Friday (Day 15), the film rebounded with a massive 200% jump on Saturday (Day 16), earning Rs 15 crore in Hindi. This pushed the total to Rs 107.65 crore, making it the first Indian animated film to breach the Rs 100 crore mark in Hindi.
