Tanushree Dutta, who ignited Bollywood’s #MeToo movement in 2018, released a distressing video on Tuesday on her Instagram account, where she broke down in tears while alleging continuous harassment at her residence over the past four to five years.
In the video, a visibly shaken Tanushree can be seen pleading for help. “Guys, I’m being harassed in my own home. I just called the cops. I got worried and called the police. The police came. They asked me to come to the police station to launch a proper complaint. I’m probably going tomorrow or the day after. I’m not well,” she said. She further added, “I’ve been harassed so much in the last 4-5 years that my health has deteriorated.”

Tanushree revealed that she has been forced to do all her housework herself due to fear of infiltration. “I’m not able to do any work. My house is a mess. I can’t hire even maids because they planted maids in my house. I had such a bad experience with maids coming in and stealing and doing all kinds of things. I have to do all my work. People come outside my door… I’m being troubled in my own house,” she said.
She concluded the emotional video by pleading, “Please, someone help me.”
In her caption, Tanushree wrote, “I’m sick and tired of this harassment!! It’s been going on since 2018 #metoo. Aaj fed up hokar maine police ko call kiya. Please someone help me! Do something before it’s too late.”
Allegations Continue Since 2018 #MeToo Movement
Tanushree further detailed her distress in her Instagram Story, sharing incidents of constant noise and intrusions at odd hours. “Loud noises like this and other very very loud banging noises at all odd hours for the last couple of years!! I got tired of complaining to the building management and gave up,” she wrote. She also mentioned being unwell and disturbed by random strangers ringing her doorbell despite a “Do Not Disturb” notice.

Tanushree had earlier accused actor Nana Patekar of sexual harassment during a film shoot in 2009, which became a catalyst for India’s #MeToo wave. While she initially filed a complaint in 2008, no concrete action was taken until her 2018 interview reignited the conversation. Later, her advocate requested narco-analysis and lie detector tests for Patekar and others involved. However, in June 2019, the Mumbai police gave Patekar a clean chit, claiming the complaint might have been “malicious” and “out of revenge.”
Her sister, actress Ishita Dutta, previously highlighted the gravity of the threats faced by Tanushree. Referring to a video of Tanushree’s car being attacked in 2008, Ishita had said, “Had it not been the cops, probably the car’s windshield would have broken.”
Known for films like Aashiq Banaya Apne, Dhol, and Bhagam Bhag, Tanushree Dutta also holds the title of Femina Miss India Universe 2004.
