Actor Scarlett Johansson has made cinematic history by becoming the highest-grossing lead actor of all time, following the massive global success of her latest film, Jurassic World: Rebirth. With this milestone, she surpasses Marvel co-stars Robert Downey Jr. and Samuel L. Jackson in total career box office revenue from lead roles.
Just four years after parting ways with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) post-Black Widow, Johansson has once again proven her global box office power. Jurassic World: Rebirth, which marks her debut in the dinosaur franchise, grossed an impressive $318 million worldwide in just six days of release.

According to industry tracker The Numbers, Johansson’s lifetime career box office gross from films where she played the lead role has now reached a staggering $14.8 billion. This figure places her ahead of Robert Downey Jr., whose lead-role earnings stand at $14.2 billion, largely propelled by his portrayal of Tony Stark/Iron Man across nine MCU films.
Scarlett Johansson Leads Jurassic World Reboot to Box Office Glory
In Jurassic World: Rebirth, Johansson takes over as the central figure of the franchise from Chris Pratt. She plays Zora Bennett, an ex-military operative sent to a remote island that remains inhabited by dinosaurs after the events of the original Jurassic World trilogy.

Directed by Gareth Edwards, the sci-fi action-thriller also stars Jonathan Bailey, Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, and Ed Skrein. The film is backed by Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment.
Johansson’s earlier MCU blockbusters such as The Avengers series and Captain America: Civil War account for more than $8.7 billion of her box office total. Her notable ensemble and voiceover performances in films like Iron Man 2 and the Sing franchise have further boosted her commercial record.
Interestingly, the current list of highest-grossing actors, according to The Numbers, features mostly MCU alumni. Apart from Johansson, Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), and Chris Pratt (Peter Quill) all feature prominently. Tom Hanks remains the only top-ranking actor on the list with no MCU connection.
