The Final Reckoning has kicked off its India box office run with a two-day weekend total of Rs. 37.75 crore (USD 4.40 million). While these are solid numbers for a Hollywood film in India, they pale in comparison to earlier entries in the long-running franchise — making this opening performance somewhat underwhelming.“While these are big numbers for a Hollywood film in India, the Tom Cruise led franchise has delivered better in the past and are, therefore, somewhat underwhelming.”
The day-wise India box office collections for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning are:
-
Saturday: Rs. 18.75 crore
-
Sunday: Rs. 19.00 crore
-
Total (2 Days): Rs. 37.75 crore
In contrast, the film’s predecessor, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, collected Rs. 77 crore during its five-day extended weekend, with Rs. 41 crore coming from Saturday and Sunday alone. Even 2018’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout earned Rs. 35 crore over a similar two-day period, a figure that would adjust to over Rs. 50 crore with current inflation and ticket prices.“The Final Reckoning was expected to collect at that level, but it hasn’t lived up to those expectations.”

Despite hopes that a Sunday jump in collections might allow The Final Reckoning to surpass Dead Reckoning’s lifetime haul, the lack of major growth has dimmed those expectations.“Even after its relatively softer start on Saturday, there was some hope for the film to overtake the lifetime total of its predecessor, Dead Reckoning. However, now, with Sunday failing to show a major growth, it has become highly unlikely, if not… mission impossible.”
Since Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol in 2011, each film in the franchise had progressively outperformed the last in India. But with The Final Reckoning, that streak has been broken.“Mission: Impossible has been one of the best performers among Hollywood franchises in India, particularly since Ghost Protocol in 2011. Each subsequent film had outgrossed the last — until now. For the franchise to end on a decreasing note is disappointing.”
Early reports also suggest that this downward trend isn’t limited to India, indicating a possible global slowdown in enthusiasm for the franchise’s finale.“From the early numbers, the decreasing trend seems to be there in other markets as well, so it’s not just India where the film has suffered.”
