CRPF officer: In an emotional video that has gone viral on social media, a woman CRPF officer posted in Jammu and Kashmir broke down while alleging police inaction over a robbery that took place at her family home in Tamil Nadu. The officer, 32-year-old Kalavathi, said wedding jewellery and other valuables were stolen, but local police failed to act promptly despite repeated pleas.
The burglary occurred on June 24 in Narayanapuram village near Ponnai, Tamil Nadu, while Kalavathi’s parents were out for farm work and cattle grazing. “The lock was broken and all the jewels which I had kept for my wedding were stolen. My parents were crying when my brother returned,” Kalavathi said in the video, adding that her brother filed a police complaint the same day.
“No one came to investigate claiming there was Chief Minister’s security duty on June 25. Only later fingerprint was collected and FIR filed on June 28,” she claimed.
Kalavathi also expressed frustration that despite numerous follow-ups, no real progress had been made in the case, leaving her family devastated.

Police Reject Allegation of Delay, Say Probe Is On
Responding to the public outcry, the Vellore District Police stated that Kalavathi’s father, Kumarasamy, had filed a complaint on June 24, reporting the theft of 15 sovereigns of gold jewellery, Rs 50,000 in cash, and a silk saree.

The police clarified that an FIR was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) on June 25, not June 28 as alleged. They said that fingerprint samples and CCTV footage were collected and tower dump technology was used to obtain suspects’ call data records.
The police further noted that on June 29, Kumarasamy revised the stolen jewellery count to 22.5 sovereigns, and that suspicion was cast on Santosh, Kalavathi’s ex-husband. Officials maintained that the investigation was being conducted without delay.
