The Jharkhand State Aarogya Society has successfully implemented the new insurance period for the “Ayushman Bharat” Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Abua Swasthya Suraksha Yojana on February 10, 2025. With the expiration of the previous insurance term, all eligible beneficiaries in the state can now avail themselves of free treatment at all listed private and government hospitals, just like before.
According to information from the Jharkhand State Aarogya Society and the Department of Health, Medical Education & Family Welfare, more than 66 lakh ration cardholder families (red, yellow, and green cardholders) in the state will benefit from this scheme.
The department has also introduced the Health Benefit Package (HBP) 2022 in the new insurance term, incorporating 534 new treatment packages and revising the rates of existing ones. These new additions will allow hospitals to treat a broader range of diseases under the scheme.
Enhanced Medical Packages Under HBP 2022
The new HBP 2022 introduces specialized care, including, palliative care packages for advanced patient management, high-end medical procedures such as bone marrow transplant and cochlear implant surgery, high-end drug packages for critical treatments and advanced diagnostic procedures to enhance medical accuracy.

Alongside the new insurance period, the National Health Authority (NHA), New Delhi, has introduced the new version of the Transaction Management System (TMS 2.0) in Jharkhand. The state operates the scheme in hybrid mode, making Jharkhand the first state in India to adopt TMS 2.0 in a hybrid format.
Improved Digital Infrastructure for Hospitals
According to the Executive Director of Jharkhand State Aarogya Society, the updated TMS 2.0 will ease operations for hospitals by allowing larger document uploads—increasing the document size limit from 500 KB to 1 MB. This enhancement will enable hospitals to upload more supporting documents, ensuring transparency and preventing misuse of the scheme.
To ensure smooth implementation, 566 listed hospitals have received online training on the new software and packages from the Jharkhand State Aarogya Society. This will help hospitals efficiently manage patient records and streamline the claim process.
