In a significant follow-up to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s recent visit to Spain, senior officials from the Government of Jharkhand and the Embassy of Spain convened a high-level meeting at Jharkhand Bhawan, New Delhi, aimed at building structured and strategic partnerships between the two sides.
The meeting was led by Shri Arava Raj Kamal, Secretary of Industries, Government of Jharkhand, and Miss Lucia Paternina, Chief Economic and Commercial Counsellor, Embassy of Spain. The primary focus of the discussions was to translate strategic outcomes into actionable collaborations, following the momentum created during the Chief Minister’s overseas engagement.
Focus Areas: Investment, Mining Tech, Clean Energy, and Tourism
Several critical sectors emerged as focal points during the meeting:
- Industrial investment with an emphasis on sustainable growth
- Clean energy partnerships to support Jharkhand’s green transition
- Exhibition infrastructure development for global-standard events
- Advanced mining technology to modernize extraction and processing
- Tourism collaboration, leveraging Spain’s global branding expertise
The Jharkhand government formally proposed the finalization of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and the creation of a Spain–Jharkhand Coordination Cell to institutionalize these efforts and enable long-term cooperation.
Co-Branding and Cultural Exchange on the Horizon
Special attention was given to co-branding opportunities at international summits and conferences. The Government of Jharkhand invited Spanish business and cultural representatives to visit Ranchi later this year, opening the door for future trade, tourism, and cultural exchange initiatives.

Discussions also explored potential tie-ups between educational institutions and government bodies from both countries. This would facilitate capacity building, skill development, and youth-focused exchange programs, enriching the broader bilateral engagement.
Shared Commitment to Fast-Track Frameworks
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to fast-track the creation of institutional frameworks that will encourage investment, innovation, and people-to-people ties between Spain and Jharkhand. Both sides expressed optimism about the tangible outcomes that will emerge from this growing partnership.
