Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the Chhattisgarh Cabinet Meeting was held on Wednesday at the Chief Minister’s residence, where several key decisions were taken. The meeting approved policies related to Naxal eradication, water resource management, industrial security, and the Good Governance Fellowship program, among others.
New Policy for Naxal Eradication Implemented
To address the Naxal issue in the state, the “Chhattisgarh Naxalite Surrender/Victim Relief & Rehabilitation Policy-2025” was approved. This policy aims to encourage Naxalites to surrender and provides them with financial assistance, rehabilitation, education, employment, and security benefits.
To improve water resource management and scientific planning, the State Water Information Center (SWIC) will be established in collaboration with the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India. SWIC will collect and analyze data related to rainfall, reservoir levels, groundwater quality, water flow, agricultural coverage, and soil mapping.
Launch of Chief Minister’s Good Governance Fellowship Program
To strengthen good governance and policy implementation, the government has launched the “Chief Minister’s Good Governance Fellowship Program.” This initiative will be implemented in collaboration with IIM Raipur and the Transforming Rural India Foundation, New Delhi.
Key Highlights:
- The program is exclusively for native youth of Chhattisgarh.
- Selected fellows will receive an MBA degree from IIM Raipur.
- Fellows will gain hands-on experience by working on government schemes and programs.
- The state government will bear the entire cost of the program, and fellows will also receive a monthly stipend.
₹522.22 Crore Loan Approved for Water Resource Development
A loan of Rs 522.22 crore has been approved from the Central Government for the improvement of nine major dams in the state. These include Maniyari Tank, Ghongha Tank, Dudhawa, Kinkari, Sondhur, Murumsilli (Phase-2), Ravishankar Sagar Project (Phase-2), New Rudri Barrage, and Pendrawan Tank.
The Cabinet approved the Chhattisgarh Industrial Security Force Bill-2025, Chhattisgarh Cooperative Society (Amendment) Bill-2025, and Chhattisgarh Private University (Amendment) Bill-2025.
Film ‘Chhava’ Declared Tax-Free in Chhattisgarh
As per the Chief Minister’s announcement on February 27, the film ‘Chhava’ has been declared tax-free in the state. The Cabinet has approved the reimbursement of State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) for the film’s screening.
