Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals IPL Match Abandoned | In an unprecedented turn of events, Match 58 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamshala, was abandoned midway following cross-border attacks from Pakistan in several parts of India, including Jammu and Punjab.
The match was interrupted after 10.1 overs, with PBKS dominating at 122 for 1, when one of the floodlight towers failed, initially presumed to be a technical glitch. However, the situation quickly escalated as two additional light towers shut down, prompting officials to ask spectators to evacuate the stadium immediately.
IPL Confirms Match Abandonment
In an official statement on X (formerly Twitter), the Indian Premier League confirmed the abandonment of the match: “Match 58. Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals – No Result.”
All players, match officials, and spectators were swiftly evacuated from the venue as a precautionary measure. According to sources, a special train has been arranged by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to transport both teams, their support staff, and match officials from the nearest Una railway station to Delhi.

BCCI Issues Statement
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, speaking to India Today, confirmed that the match was called off due to escalating national security concerns: “The situation is not stable at the moment, and that is why we have cancelled today’s match — not just in Dharamshala, but due to escalating tensions from the neighbouring country. The safety of players, spectators, and support staff is our top priority. We are closely monitoring the situation and will make further decisions accordingly.”
Pakistan Attacks Multiple Indian Locations
The decision follows a series of coordinated attacks allegedly launched by Pakistan:
- Rockets were fired across the International Border into Jammu, with one drone striking the Jammu Airport.
- India’s air defence systems were activated and successfully intercepted incoming projectiles, reportedly shooting down a Pakistani F-16 fighter jet.
- Kamikaze drones were also intercepted in Poonch, while other drone incursions were foiled in Udhampur (J&K) and Jaisalmer (Rajasthan).
- A drone was downed in Akhnoor, further intensifying national alert levels.
What Happens Next?
This incident marks one of the most dramatic and politically charged interruptions in IPL history. The BCCI is expected to review the tournament schedule in the coming days as the situation unfolds.
