’12th Fail’, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, became one of the successful and most celebrated films of 2023. The movie which cast Vikrant Maasey and Medha Shankar in lead roles continues to collect overwhelming response from the audiences from all quarters.
‘12th Fail’, a cinematic portrayal of the life and struggle of IPS Manoj Kumar Sharma, which was released last year in October, completed 25 glorious weeks in theatres and the film continued to garnered love after its OTT release on Disney Hotstar.
In a conversation, actors Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankar revealed that director Vidhu Vinod Chopra used to reward them with Rs 100 every time they did a good job on the set. When asked if “there was any kind of competition on who is getting more notes” from the director, Medha said, “No-no, there was no competition, but the first time I got a hundred rupees note, I had to show it to everybody on set.”
The actress also revealed that she felt as if she was on the top of the world after receiving her first note from the director, in front of Vikrant Massey. As reported by NDTV, Medha Shankar added, “I have gone and shown it to everybody. And I told them, ‘Listen I got a hundred’, because getting a hundred in front of Vikrant was like a big feat for me.”
Vikrant Massey also revealed that he earned Rs 380 from his director. The actor said, “Maine overall film ke end mein kuch Rs 380 kamaye mere khyal se. (Overall, I earned Rs 380 at the end of the film.)”
Adding to this, Medha Shankar said, “I have not calculated mine. Now, I know he has encashed his (earnings), I have to get my Rs 20 notes (from Vidhu Vinod Chopra).” Interrupting Medha, Vikrant said, “She has kept the whole account of her earnings.”
‘12TH Fail’ completed 25 glorious weeks after its theatrical release. To celebrate the film’s silver jubilee success, Vikrant posted a poster of the film on his social media accounts and wrote” First film in 23 years to achieve this milestone. Thank you audiences for making our dream come true. YOU truly are responsible for making this happen. Much love.”
