A tense nine-day search for a male tiger that strayed from the Sariska Tiger Reserve in Rajasthan concluded on Friday morning when forest officials successfully tranquillized the animal. The tiger, identified as Tiger 2402, was captured after being confined in a house near Alwar.
The tiger’s journey outside the reserve created widespread alarm. Yesterday, it attacked three individuals in Dausa, including a woman working in the fields. The tiger, which had been hiding in nearby bushes, pounced on her before attacking two others. All three injured are receiving medical treatment in Jaipur.
A video from the incident showed the tiger leaping onto a forest department vehicle during the rescue attempt, showcasing its agility and adding to the tension of the operation. After the attack, the animal escaped toward Alwar’s Rajgarh area, evading capture.

Incidents like this highlight the challenges of human-wildlife coexistence, especially in regions near wildlife reserves. Efforts are ongoing to track and safely return the other tigers to their natural habitat, minimizing the risk to human lives and ensuring the animals’ welfare.
This episode underscores the importance of conservation strategies and measures to prevent such encounters in the future.
