Acting on the orders of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Jharkhand officials have departed for Telangana along with the families of laborers trapped in an under-construction tunnel.
Under the leadership of the Gumla district administration, one family member from each of the four affected families, along with a police officer and a district official, departed from Birsa Munda Airport for Telangana. Additionally, the Labor Department is closely monitoring the situation on the Chief Minister’s directive.
Current Situation in Telangana Tunnel Collapse
In the Nagar Kurnool district of Telangana, a total of eight workers remain trapped inside the Srisailam Left Bank Canal Tunnel. Among them, four are from Jharkhand, two from Uttar Pradesh, and one each from Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is actively engaged in rescue operations.

The control room has established communication with Additional Labor Officer (ALO) in Nagar Kurnool, as well as with other laborers working at the tunnel site. The trapped workers were employed under Jayaprakash Associates LTS for the Srisailam Left Bank Canal Tunnel Project.
Continuous Monitoring and Rescue Efforts
The State Migrant Control Room is in constant contact with Telangana authorities and other laborers at the site. Regular updates on the ongoing NDRF rescue operations are being received. The Gumla district administration team, now on the ground, will provide real-time updates to the control room regarding the latest developments.
The government’s swift action and coordinated response underscore its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its migrant workers. As rescue operations continue, all efforts are being made to expedite the safe evacuation of the trapped laborers.
