In a tragic incident in Telangana’s Sangareddy district, an explosion at a chemical factory has killed at least seven persons and left 25 others injured. The condition of four workers is said to be critical.
The explosion, which took place in the reactor of the factory, has also resulted in several people being trapped under the debris, raising concerns that the death toll may rise significantly.
Reports indicate that approximately 50 persons were present inside the building at the time of the explosion, with disturbing visuals from the scene capturing the aftermath of the blast now surfacing on social media platforms.
Among the casualties is the factory’s manager. The severity of the explosion has prompted fears of another reactor in the building being at risk of exploding, leading authorities to initiate evacuations of nearby areas as a precautionary measure.
The injured have been promptly transported to a government hospital for medical treatment. This incident follows a fire outbreak at a cotton storage shed in the same district just a day earlier, reportedly caused by a short circuit. Fortunately, the fire was swiftly brought under control without any casualties.
Additionally, recent incidents in the district, including a fire at a food production unit in the Katedan industrial area last week, have raised concerns about industrial safety protocols.
Despite the rapid response of fire tenders to the food production unit, which specializes in biscuits, wafers, and confectionary, there were no casualties reported.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the explosion at the chemical factory while taking necessary measures to ensure the safety of the surrounding areas.
