In a spirited rebuttal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent attacks on the Congress party’s manifesto, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra stood firm, accusing Modi of spreading falsehoods and challenging his integrity during a rally in Valsad, Gujarat.
Responding to Modi’s allegations of a proposed “wealth redistribution” in the Congress manifesto that purportedly threatened women’s jewellery, including mangalsutras, Priyanka Gandhi vehemently defended her party’s stance.
Priyanka Gandhi, addressing a gathering at Dharampur village, reminisced about her family’s contributions to the nation and lambasted Modi for what she termed as untruthful claims. “I have seen many Prime Ministers, not just from my family. Indira Gandhi sacrificed her life for this country. Rajiv Gandhi was a Prime Minister too, I brought him home in pieces, he sacrificed his life for his country,” she stated emotionally.
Taking a direct jab at PM Modi, Priyanka Gandhi asserted, “I can say with conviction that this will be the first Prime Minister of the country who lies to you like this. Who does not even think that he is speaking in front of the people and should be telling the truth.”

Modi’s assertions regarding the Congress manifesto, particularly the alleged threat to personal jewellery, have been refuted by the Congress leadership. Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress President, denied these claims and accused the Prime Minister of spreading misinformation across various campaign rallies.
Further addressing the crowd, Priyanka Gandhi criticized the BJP’s ambition to secure 400 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, suggesting a hidden agenda to amend the Constitution. She accused the ruling party of concealing its true intentions until assuming power, asserting that BJP leaders have openly discussed plans to alter the Constitution to undermine democracy and civil liberties.
“The BJP has a history of initially denying their plans, only to implement them once in power. They want to change the Constitution to weaken democracy and deprive people of their rights,” Gandhi said.
The verbal clash between the Congress and the BJP has escalated in the final stages of India’s general elections, with both parties passionately defending their respective platforms and criticizing each other’s policy proposals.
