Days after the untimely death of actor Shefali Jariwala at the age of 42, her close friend Pooja Ghai has opened up about the final hours leading up to the tragedy. In a heartfelt interview with journalist Vickey Lalwani, Ghai recalled Shefali’s deteriorating condition, her use of IV vitamin drips, and the crucial moments when husband Parag Tyagi rushed her to the hospital.
According to Ghai, Shefali had complained of uneasiness after dinner on June 27, shortly after Parag left to walk their dog. “The helper at home called him and said, ‘Didi ki tabiyat theek nahi hai (Shefali is not feeling well),’” Ghai recounted. When Parag returned, he found Shefali with her pulse still on, but unresponsive and limp. He rushed her to the hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
Postmortem Awaited as Friends Recall Final Rituals and Medical Routine
Pooja Ghai noted that a Satyanarayan puja had taken place at Shefali’s home just a day before the tragedy. “The house was still decorated when we brought Shefali for the last rites,” she said, highlighting the suddenness of her demise. The actor had reportedly eaten a normal dinner before asking Parag to walk the dog.

Ghai further shared that Shefali regularly took vitamin C IV drips, commonly used for skin and wellness purposes. On the night of her death, she had taken one such drip, which Ghai described as generally safe and frequently used in cities like Dubai.
Doctors suspect that fasting combined with medication may have contributed to a sharp drop in blood pressure, potentially triggering a cardiac arrest. As of now, the exact cause of death remains unknown and will be confirmed following a postmortem examination.
Ghai described the loss as “heart-wrenching,” adding that Shefali’s mother also experienced chest pain upon hearing the news of her daughter’s death. Shefali is survived by her husband Parag Tyagi.
