Actor Rupali Ganguly has spoken out about the ongoing controversy involving her stepdaughter Esha Verma, days after issuing a Rs 50 crore defamation notice against her. The allegations, centered on claims that Ganguly was responsible for the breakdown of Esha’s mother’s marriage to Ashwin K, have sparked widespread attention.
In an interview with Instant Bollywood, Rupali Ganguly opened up about the impact of the controversy on her personal life. She candidly shared: “If I tell you that these things don’t affect me, then I’d be lying. Of course, such things affect us. We are humans, after all. It hurts when someone passes even a tiny comment behind our back.”
The actor emphasized her belief in resilience and positivity, stating: “The ones who love me will continue doing so. Achhe karam karte jao, achhi cheeze aap ke saath aaj nahi toh kal zaroor hongi (Keep doing good deeds, and good things will surely come to you, if not today, then tomorrow). Everyone goes through rough phases, bad things do happen, but eventually, the truth always wins.”
The Root of the Controversy
The dispute traces back to a 2020 post by Esha Verma, which recently resurfaced and went viral. In the post, Esha accused Rupali Ganguly of contributing to the collapse of her mother’s marriage and claimed that the actor had issued threats to both Esha and her mother.

In response to these allegations, Ganguly served Esha Verma with a Rs 50 crore defamation notice. The legal document cited “false and damaging statements” and highlighted the mental trauma Rupali endured, reportedly requiring medical intervention. The notice also mentioned professional setbacks resulting from the controversy.
Despite initially choosing to maintain a “dignified silence,” Ganguly decided to take legal action after the couple’s 11-year-old son was allegedly drawn into the matter.
