Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday visited Prayagraj, where he took a holy dip at the revered Triveni Sangam on the auspicious occasions of Magh Ashtami and Bhishma Ashtami. This spiritual visit aligns with the ongoing Maha Kumbh 2025, an event that holds immense religious and cultural significance for millions of Hindu devotees.
Dressed in a saffron sweatshirt and a tracksuit, PM Modi began his ritual by offering prayers at Triveni Sangam, the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers. Holding rudraksha beads, he chanted mantras. Later, he performed the aarti wearing a navy blue kurta, a black jacket, and a Himachali woollen cap.

PM Modi’s Spiritual Journey and Address to Saints
Following the ritual bath, PM Modi is scheduled to meet and address prominent saints from several akharas, where he will discuss nation-building and India’s spiritual heritage, according to sources. His visit to Prayagraj highlights the fusion of governance with religious traditions, reinforcing his commitment to cultural preservation and Hindu values.

Accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, PM Modi took a boat ride from Areal Ghat to Mahakumbh, before reaching Sangam Ghat around 11:30 am for the ceremonial dip. His arrival at Prayagraj Airport at 10:05 am and subsequent journey to Areal Ghat by 10:45 am reflect the meticulous planning behind this spiritually significant visit.
Massive Devotee Turnout as Maha Kumbh Nears
The significance of February 5 in the Hindu calendar cannot be understated, as it marks the observance of Magh Ashtami and Bhishma Ashtami, along with Gupt Navratri, a period of fasting and meditation for devotees. By 10 am, more than 10 lakh devotees had already taken a dip at the Sangam, highlighting the religious fervor surrounding the occasion.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju also participated in the sacred ritual, taking a dip at Triveni Sangam and sharing a video on social media platform X.

Emphasizing the unparalleled significance of Maha Kumbh, Rijiju stated, “Maha Kumbh comes once in 144 years, i.e., once in many generations. No one should do politics on such a historic religious moment. I am fortunate to have taken a dip in the holy Triveni Sangam. Please follow the guidelines as the total number of people coming to Maha Kumbh is unprecedented and unimaginable.”
