Torrential rains have brought Mumbai to its knees, with severe flooding impacting even the city’s most prominent residents. The homes of Bollywood icons like Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Kajol, Rani Mukerji, and the Deol family have been inundated, as documented by vlogger Sagar Thakur in a series of viral Instagram videos.
The relentless downpour, which triggered a red alert across the city, has caused widespread waterlogging, claimed six lives across Maharashtra, and left rescue operations in full swing.
Thakur’s videos offer a stark glimpse into the scale of the flooding, showing muddy water pooling outside and even inside celebrity residences in upscale areas like Juhu. The vlogger’s commentary highlights the indiscriminate nature of the deluge, stating, “Aap dekh sakte hain kitna paani bhar chuka hai. Kaha jaa raha hai Amitabh Bachchan khud aae the wiper leke, paani nikaal rahe the. Kitna bhi paisa ho, 1000 crore, Mumbai ki baarish se koi nahi bach paaya hai. Na Ambani, na Amitabh Bachchan.”
Celebrity Homes Submerged in Mumbai Deluge
Sagar Thakur’s vlogs capture the extent of the flooding around high-profile residences. At Amitabh Bachchan’s second home, Prateeksha, in Juhu, Thakur filmed water reaching calf-deep levels outside the gate, noting that the Bollywood legend was reportedly seen attempting to clear the water himself.

Similar scenes unfolded at the homes of Ajay Devgn and Kajol, Aditya Chopra and Rani Mukerji, and the Deol family, where streets were transformed into rivers after two days of relentless rain. Thakur’s attempt to enter Prateeksha was cut short when the watchman intervened, but his footage has sparked widespread attention online.
Netizens have reacted with a mix of sympathy and humor. One commenter remarked, “Kyu bade logo ke ghar dikha rahe ho garibo ka bhi dikhao sach ka samna karwo hum bhi mumbai me hi rahte he,” urging focus on the struggles of ordinary Mumbaikars. Another quipped, “Kyu amitabh bachchan se bhagwan ki khas dosti h kya jo unke ghar pani nahi bharega,” while a third noted, “Mumbai always keeps you humble,” reflecting the city’s leveling force during the monsoon.
Rescue Operations Intensify Amid Red Alert
The heavy rains have taken a tragic toll, with the Maharashtra Disaster Management Department reporting six deaths in the past 24 hours and five people missing in Nanded district.
To address the crisis, 18 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams and six State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams have been deployed across the state. In Nanded’s Mukhed area, SDRF teams successfully rescued 293 stranded residents, underscoring the scale of the emergency response.
