Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of attempting to disrupt Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections. In a press conference, Kejriwal claimed that central agencies have been instructed to arrest AAP leader Atishi and raid the homes of senior party leaders as part of a larger strategy to hinder their electoral efforts.
The allegations came shortly after two Delhi government departments raised concerns about the Mahila Samman Yojana, led by Atishi, and the Sanjeevani Yojana. These initiatives, aimed at providing financial aid to women and free medical treatment for the elderly, were flagged by the departments, further intensifying the political tensions. Kejriwal accused the BJP of orchestrating a decade-long campaign to stall the progress of the Delhi government, using the Lieutenant Governor as a tool to block key initiatives. Despite these efforts, Kejriwal emphasized, the AAP government continued to function and deliver on its promises.
“Whenever these conspiracies failed, the BJP began targeting our top leaders and ministers, sending them to jail. But our work never stopped. Now, seeing the imminent defeat ahead, the BJP has resorted to desperate tactics,” said Kejriwal. He criticized the BJP for failing to contribute to the development of Delhi over the past decade, pointing out that the party’s Delhi government had not built any new infrastructure such as roads, hospitals, or schools. Kejriwal also accused the BJP of mismanaging law and order, leaving Delhi residents living in fear.

He continued, “While the BJP can only focus on attacking me, they have no agenda or Chief Ministerial candidate. In contrast, we are running a positive campaign, focusing on our achievements like improving schools, hospitals, providing free power, and offering free bus rides for women.”
Kejriwal also claimed that the BJP is rattled by the growing popularity of the Mahila Samman Yojana and the Sanjeevani Yojana, with large numbers of Delhi residents eager to register for these welfare programs. According to Kejriwal, the BJP has been informed of plans to fabricate a case against Atishi in the Delhi transport department, aiming to halt the free bus rides for women.
He warned that this latest move is part of an effort to distract the AAP from its election campaign. “The people of Delhi and the country will reject this kind of dirty politics,” he concluded, asserting that the AAP’s focus will remain on its positive agenda for the city’s residents.
