Kapil Sharma’s cafe in Canada’s Surrey has come under gunfire for the second time in less than a month’s time. Multiple rounds were fired at the newly opened Kap’s Cafe, with social media videos suggesting at least 25 gunshots during the latest incident.
Members of two gangs — Gurpreet Singh alias Goldy Dhillon and Lawrence Bishnoi — took to social media to claim responsibility for the attack. In a purported video that captured the gunfire, a voice is heard saying, “We had called the target, but he didn’t hear the ring, so we had to take action. If he still doesn’t hear the ring, the next action will be taken soon in Mumbai.”
Sources confirmed that Mumbai Police and other Indian security agencies are closely monitoring the situation following this new threat.

The latest attack on Kap’s Cafe follows an earlier incident on July 10, when gunshots were fired at Kaps Cafe while some employees were still inside. No injuries were reported, but the damage included at least 10 bullet holes and a shattered windowpane.

Following the first shooting, Harjit Singh Laddi—a member of the banned terrorist group Babbar Khalsa International (BKI)—had claimed responsibility. Laddi cited offense over remarks made at one of Kapil Sharma’s shows about the attire and behaviour of Nihang Sikhs. The Canadian government designates BKI as a terrorist organisation, and Laddi is on the National Investigation Agency’s most-wanted list.
Kap’s Cafe issued a statement reaffirming its commitment to stand “firm” against violence, maintaining the establishment as a space of “warmth and community.”
Canadian local police earlier acknowledged reports from Indian media suggesting a Khalistani separatist was behind the July 10 attack.
