After being enormously elected as the Prime Minister of Canada , Mark Carney in his first speech warned about the “dark days” brought by US President Donald Trump. Taking an aggressive stance he blamed Trump for “attacking Canadian workers, families, and businesses.”
Carney also said that Trump is deliberately trying to weaken the economy of Canada by posing “unjustified tariffs” while pledging that he won’t allow Trump to succeed. “We will build new relationships with reliable trading partners and secure our borders. We will impose retaliatory tariffs with the maximum impact on the US, which will remain in place will the Americans show us respect,” he said, to a round of roaring applause.

Carney accussed the Trump 2.0 government for wanting the Canadian Water, resources, enumerating that Ottawa will never be a part of America in “any way, shape or form”. “Canada didn’t ask for a fight, but if it comes to that, we will win,” Carney said.
Carney vs Freeland Election Results
He defeated the heavyweight Chrystia Freeland who formerly served as the deputy PM of Canada holding several senior cabinet positions in the Liberal government that was first elected in 2015. Carney was elected with 85.9% of vote while Freeland only got 8% of vote.
Trump has repeatedly spoken about annexing Canada and thrown bilateral trade, the nucleus of the Canadian economy, into chaos with whriling tariff actions that have turned in various directions since he took office.
